Vincent the Trumpeter Swan Sanctuary Sponsorship

Meet Vincent, our trumpeter swan. Vincent was privately owned in Michigan under a propagation permit. With a permit, people can legally own swans like him. Then he lost his mate and not long after, he was injured and part of his lower beak was badly damaged. A Michigan rescue (All Species Kinship Rescue in Battle Creek) took him in, but Michigan winters were too cold for him. So, in August 2021 they brought him south to us.

Part of Vincent's lower beak is gone and a swan's beak is his grooming tool, so he can't preen his feathers the way a swan should. That's why every winter he moves into heated housing. It keeps him safe and warm, though he'll admit he gets a little down in there. The rest of the year he's outdoors, usually right beside his best friend, Whoop Whoop the whooper swan! Vincent is never brighter than when he's out with his pal. In his own words, “Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is my forever home.”

Your sponsorship of Vincent helps provide his food, expert veterinary care, heated winter housing, and a safe home for life at Carolina Waterfowl Rescue.
